I am a university professor in Korea, and I created this site for people who want to understand Korean in a way that is useful outside a textbook.

Over the years, I have met many international students, researchers, colleagues, and visitors who were interested in Korea but often had the same kinds of questions:

How I Write Korean For You

My goal is not to make Korean sound more complicated than it is.

I try to explain what a visitor or learner really needs to know, while also pointing out situations where a direct translation does not fully explain how Korean is actually used.

That sometimes means explaining why a phrase that is grammatically correct may not be the expression Koreans normally choose in everyday conversation.

It also means that travel guides on this site are not intended to be simple lists of tourist attractions. I try to explain what happens in the real situation: what you may see, what someone may ask you, what Korean words matter, and what you should do next.

Accuracy and Updates

Korean language and culture change, and practical information such as transportation fares, operating systems, payment methods, and travel services can also change.

I review and update articles when necessary, but readers should confirm time-sensitive information with the relevant official organization before making important travel or financial decisions.
