📘 Intermediate Day 10: Talking About Experience – ~아/어 본 적 있어요

Welcome to Day 10 of the Intermediate Korean series! 🌍 In this lesson, you’ll learn how to say you’ve tried or experienced something before using the structure:

  • ~아/어 본 적 있어요 – “I have tried / I have ever done…”

This is extremely useful when talking about life experiences, such as travel, food, activities, and more. You’ll often use it in friendly conversations, interviews, or when meeting someone new!

📘 Grammar Breakdown – ~아/어 보다 + 적 있다

This structure combines:

  • ~아/어 보다 – to try doing something
  • ~본 적 있다 – to have an instance of doing something

So, when you say: 먹어 본 적 있어요 → “I have tried eating (it).”

📘 How to Form It

  • Verb stem + 아/어 보다 → past tense: ~아/어 봤어요
  • Add ~본 적 있다 / 없어 for affirmative/negative experience

Pattern:

[verb stem] + 아/어 본 적 + 있어요/없어요
